These are some forest paintings for a class project I did a year ago. I tweeked this a bit based on some comments and critiques I received. The idea was to create forest scenes that could appear in a fairytale book, with contrasting moods. The first is a meant to be a night scene with powerful sensation of light invoked by the magical pool in the near-center and by fireflies drawn to the pool. The latter is a day scene in a dead forest, with twisted, grotesque elements to invoke the idea of something wicked behind the dead appearance of the forest.
